Staying in Touch with Pile

The article in this week’s edition of Adweek “Good Money after Bad?” was of obvious interest to me.  We have seen the statistic over the last few years that consultant-led reviews in the US are declining.  That isn’t news to us.  It’s been written about in many articles over the last few months.

What is surprising in the article is the information about the recent AdForum summit in New York.  The purpose of the event is for agencies to update a group of search consultants from around the world.  Agencies pay a large sum of money to present to the group.

Pile and Company is invited to this event every year.  We have never been and don’t see any value to the summit.  We constantly meet and have calls with agencies from across the country.  It’s much more valuable to us to meet with an agency one on one.  We are able to get a better sense of the people in an informal setting.  We also don’t see the point in spending a week with a group of our competitors.  As the article states, we often have to compete against other consultants to get new business.

If you are an agency and want to update Pile, just give us a call.  We’re happy to spend time on the phone or in person. It’s much more helpful to us than a formal presentation.
